Usually about once or twice a month I have someone dinging me for believing in the BIBLICAL doctrine of pre-tribulational Rapture. So I call them my Dingers. God put them in my life for Steel on Steel.
For some reason my mid-tribulational Dingers all feel compelled to change my mind. But that’s not happening. I’m sticking with the quite-defendable pre-trib truths.
I realize all this comes with the territory I defend. Back in the 1990s it was “Bill Clinton was the anti-Christ and Hillary was the false prophet.” Sigh…
But this week someone I thought was fairly solid sent me info proclaiming that Dr. Fauci was one of the horsemen in Revelation 6. Oh boy… Satan has another one twisted in knots because the Believer doesn’t understand BASIC prophecy doctrine in his Bible!
So knowing there’s so much prophetic trash still floating around these days in Christian circles, I think it’s time to review a couple of basic prophecy facts before jumping into the time period just before the Rapture. So here goes...
I teach and defend a Pre-Millennial doctrine. Jesus will come back to the earth and reign as a literal king for 1000 years.
All past prophecies in the Bible were fulfilled literally. Therefore we can trust the future prophecies to be fulfilled literally.
If God says “1000 years” six times in six verses (Rev 20:2-7), He doesn’t mean “a long time.” He means what He said, “1000 years.”
If God says there will be no carnivorous instincts in animals in the Millennium and that children will play with poisonous snakes, then we’re NOT in the Millennium today.
So the pre-Millennial doctrine is our engine that drives all other prophecy interpretations below.
We believe God's 7-Day Creation is His template for 7000 years of man on the earth. The last day of Creation is "The Lord's Day" or the "Day of the Lord."
The Day of the Lord begins with the Rapture and goes all the way to the end of the Millennium. Its name comes from the 7th day of Creation..
Therefore, being 1000 years long, you can have prophetic references about both God’s wrath on earth and Jesus reigning on the throne in the same time period...all referring to “The Day of the Lord.”
For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 1Th. 5:2
I am a dispensationalist. I view the Bible through the lens of God’s quite obvious time periods. God doesn’t change, but He changes how he deals with people on the earth at different times.
When God said “Woe to those who are pregnant…” in Matthew 24:19, He was not talking to people in the Church Age. He was talking to the Jews, who were under the Law. Before-the-cross comments to the Jews are not specific instructions to us living in the Church Age.
Our specific instructions come from Paul's letters to Church Age Believers. And they are just as inspired and infallible as Jesus' words.
Viewing the Bible through a dispensational lens clears up things like why Jesus can say to the pre-cross Jews:
“But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. Matt. 6:15
But Paul can say (again, just as inspired as what Jesus said) that we post-cross Believers are to:
...forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven [past tense] you. Eph. 4:32
…Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come. 1Thes. 1:10b
I have people all the time telling me that Rapture will happen in the middle of the Tribulation because God’s Wrath only happens in the second-half of the Tribulation. Well, I will admit that His wrath is “undiluted” in the last 3 1/2 years of Tribulation.
But God’s wrath is quite destructive in the first 3 1/2 years. After all, 1/2 of the world's mankind dies! First, 1/4 of the earth’s population dies from famine, pestilence and wild beasts (Rev. 6:8). Then another 1/3 of the earth’s population dies in Rev. 9. All this before the half-way point of Tribulation.
In the second half of Tribulation, God’s undiluted wrath pretty much kills most of who's left with a worldwide earthquake that shakes the mountains down to the ground around the world (Rev. 16:20). Not to mention all the fire from heaven.
…the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left. Isaiah 24:6b
Isaiah compares what God’s wrath will be like to someone violently shaking an olive tree… trying to shake the olives off the branches (Is. 24:1,13,19).
Definitely that’s undiluted wrath in the last 3 1/2 years. But His wrath lasts the entire 7 years. I guess you could say the first half is “Wrath” and the second half is “Worse Wrath.” But it’s all wrath.
I wonder how long Soros, Gates, Fauci and Obama will last? (Just a wild guess they won’t be Raptured.)
My Dingers also get confused by Paul’s wording regarding trumpets at the Rapture in his letter to the Church at Corinth.
…in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 1 Cor. 15:52
Yes, I believe the 7th and last of the Trumpet Judgments in Revelation comes just before the mid-point of the Tribulation. But that is NOT the same trumpet that Paul is describing in 1 Corinthians 15.
Rather, Paul is referring to the last trumpet sounding on the celebration of Rosh Hashannah, the Jewish feast in the fall each year. It's a day of "gathering and celebration."
Each day of the feast they blow a trumpet and on the last day of the feast, they blow the trumpet seven times. The last of the seven trumpet blows is one long blast, and is known as the "Last Trump."
No, we won't know the day or the hour because of the time zones... the earth always has two days going on at the same time.
The Church Age begins with the arrival of God’s Holy Spirit on the earth and ends with His departure from earth—called the Rapture. Since dispensations, by their pure definition, cannot overlap, the Rapture has to happen before the Tribulation can begin.
Fifty days after the Rapture (1), the Tribulation begins with the signing of a seven-year peace treaty between Israel and 10 nations from the Old Roman Empire (Dan 2).
The ten nations will come from the ten toes of the statue — five nations (toes) from the western leg, Rome, and five nations (toes) from the eastern leg, Constantinople (Istanbul today).(2)
So this brings us to the main discussion in this article—the removal of the Church, the Bride of Christ, from the earth before God’s Tribulational wrath is poured out for those seven years.
We know the Church is not be the object of God’s wrath.
For God has not destined us for wrath,… 1Th. 5:9a
That event that removes the Church from receiving God’s wrath is called the Rapture. A lot of my Dingers love to say “Rapture” is not in the Bible. I say neither is “Trinity,” but both concepts are taught in scripture.
Actually, even though the word Rapture is not in the English translation of the Bible, it comes from the Latin translation of the Greek word “Harpazo,” which means “caught up.”
The Latin word is “rapturo,” which means “to take by force.” Therefore the word “rapture” comes from “rapturo” and IS in the Latin translation of the Bible.
“…just as it happened in the days of Noah…” Luke 17:26
For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. Matt. 24:37
The Bible tells us that living at the end of the Church Age in the time just before the Rapture will be just like living before the Flood of Noah and the days of Lot.
Things were calm and normal, the non-Believers suspected zero, they had no clue what was about to happen.
“For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left." Matt. 24:37-41
“It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; Luke 17:28
So the worldwide flood surprised non-Believers with unimaginable horror they didn’t see coming. Something happened that had never happened before—rain (Gen. 2:6).
But just before the flood, God called the Believers into safety where they were protected from God’s wrath.
The SAME thing, “just as it happened in the days of Noah,” will happen at the Rapture. Non-Believers will have no clue what’s coming…right up to the moment Believers are whisked away to safety. Something that’s never happened before.
When the flood happened, things changed suddenly. The depths of the oceans burst open flooding the whole earth within hours. For those left behind, it went from calm to chaos in the blink of an eye.
When the Rapture happens, life on earth will also change from calm to chaos for the non-Beleivers left behind in a moment.
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,… 1Cor. 15:52a
Not only will people be instantly missing, but also millions of accidents will suddenly take place worldwide as planes, trains and vehicles crash without operators.
It’s also likely that communication requiring electricity will stop, at least for a while. No phones, no radio or TV, no Internet to search for answers. The food supply chain will also stop.
The lack of electricity will be due to the disturbance in the earth's polarization from the removal of so many Believers from the earth in the blink of an eye.(3)
This “all electricity stops” assumption is based on the fact that when the Holy Spirit came to the earth in Acts 2 to begin the Church Age, the event was described as a noise, a violent rushing wind who landed on/indwelled only 12 people in one place.
And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, Acts 2:2
Everyone near those 12 people heard the noise and knew something big had come from God—from heaven.
For the reverse, when God’s Holy Spirit departs the earth at the Rapture, God’s Holy Spirit will return to heaven taking, not 12, but millions of Believers with Him.
The event will also sound like a noisy, violent, rushing wind, albeit it hundreds of times more noisy and violent. Everyone on earth will KNOW something originating from God just happened.
This mass-removal of humanity will screw up the polarization of the earth's magnetic fields—much like sun spots mess up our TV signals. The electrical grid could be out for hours, or even days, or forever.
In Ezekiel 38-39 we see Israel invaded post-Rapture by an army on horses. Hmmmm....who knows. All we know is that most left behind won’t have a clue as to what happened, and will believe an official explanation that is a lie.
For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 2Th. 2:11
But we're hoping some will be trying to find those little blue Millions Missing booklets!
We know evil was off the charts at the time of Noah.
Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Gen. 6:5
So just before the Rapture we know non-Believers will be living in continuous evil, they could care less about what God has proclaimed through His Word, the Bible.
Satan was just as active in the time of Noah as he is today. At the time of Noah, he lied to people telling them to not worry about tomorrow, they can be their own God today.
Of course, this is the same lie Satan told Adam and Eve. Some things never change.
Today, Satan’s lying to people telling them not to worry about tomorrow, that they only go around once in life so they’ve got to grab all the gusto they can—be their own god.
Satan’s telling people today that the Bible’s out of date. He’s telling them that if it feels good, do it. As the Grass Roots sang in 1967:
Sha la la la la la, live for today, live for today
We were never meant to worry
The way that people do
And I don't need to hurry
As long as I'm with you
We'll take it nice and easy
And use my simple plan
You'll be my lovin' woman
I'll be your lovin' man
We'll take the most from living
Have pleasure while we can
As a non-Christian in 1967, my senior year in high school, I sang that song loud and long. Scary. No wonder we were so messed up and rudderless in those days.
Thankfully the Lord saved me about 10 years later. Susie and I were three years into our marriage, no kids, and although we didn’t fight, we were slowly drifting apart.
Had the Lord not saved us, I have no doubt we’d be divorced. But once saved, as we both headed toward the same Biblical truths, we got closer to each other.
As a result of His kindness, we're grateful for 46 years together serving the Lord with kids and grand-kids. Not because we knew what we were doing—rather, because of His Grace! PTL!
But I digress…back to the Rapture—
So today the world’s full of clueless non-Believers with no idea what’s ahead. They are their own God. Their decisions are based on what they want, what they think is best for them. God is not in the picture.
And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, Rom. 1:28
One second before the Rapture, non-Believers will be lying because Satan is the great liar, the “father of lies.”
...he [Satan] is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44c
One second before the Rapture, non-Believers will be having abortions because Satan’s a murderer.
He [Satan] was a murderer from the beginning, John 8:44b.
And the Lord hates:
...hands that shed innocent blood, Pro. 6:17b
One second before the Rapture, non-Believers will be their own God. Satanic worship, even though deep down they know it’s wrong, leads to sin and degradation and separates them from God and righteousness.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. …For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Rom. 1:18-19, 25
One second before the Rapture, non-Believers will have a false sense of hope for the future. They won’t be seeking the Lord to meet their needs. Instead, they will be trusting the Government to provide for them.
You shall have no other gods before Me. Ex. 20:3
One second before the Rapture, non-Believers will take their last breath of freedom before their worst nightmare begins.
We don’t know how long we have before we depart. It’s possible it could be 12 years. It’s possible it could be months or minutes. But the Bible says we’ll see signs to know when it’s close.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; 1Th. 5:4
Not knowing how long, but knowing truth to share about what’s coming, we need to boldly witness God’s plan of escape from the upcoming horror. Because every moment we have left could be one second away.
Use us, Lord!
Shalom!
Bill
