if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1:9
On first glance, the verse appears to mean we have to continually confess our sins in order for the Lord to forgive us our sins. Many Bible teachers teach this verse is "God's bar of soap." NOT!!!!!
That interpretation is massively incorrect. Hey, just shooting from the hip, that would be a "works doctrine." We're saved by what Jesus did, not what we do...grace, not works!
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Eph. 2:8-9
Paul said to confess our sins to one another (James 5:16), but he never mentioned continuously confessing them to God. Did he just forget to mention that to the Church?
So why do so many pastors teach that you must continually confess your sins in order for new sins to be forgiven? Or teach to confess all your sins before communion (apparently to keep from getting sick because you took communion unworthily).
The answer is in our book, Forgiven Forever. Of course, the answer is actually in the Bible, and the author, Hector MacLeod, points it out.
Below is the foreword I wrote for the book:
Short of heaven, it will be impossible to know the impact the book Forgiven Forever has had on Believers. Hector MacLeod never sought to be the pastor of a megachurch. He never desired to be a famous writer. He never pursued a large radio or Internet audience.
And the chances are good that you’ve never heard of him. Rather than seeking the limelight, he faithfully served God the way he was Biblically instructed—to armor whatever flock that God brought him.
His teaching emphasis had a clear passion for eternity and not our temporal containers in this time-ordained life. He knew well the Word of God and enthusiastically defended a pre-millennial, pre-tribulational and Biblical dispensational view of scripture.
He steadfastly interpreted and taught the Bible through the lens of a literal hermeneutic.
He understood that children were not something we selfishly portion out based on known worldly circumstances, but rather children are an eternal privilege and blessing from God.
Hector understood the role of Israel—past, present and future. Over his 65 years as pastor of the church, three times he had his church save enough money to pay for the entire congregation to visit Israel for 10 days…every one of the 70 or so church regulars.
And in the area of forgiveness, the topic of this book, God allowed Hector to see through the massively incorrect teaching that 1John 1:9 says a Believer must continually confess their sins to be forgiven.
Whether you are a new Believer, a mature Christian, layman or pastor who teaches 1John 1:9 to mean to continually confess your sins to God, this book is going to be a breath of fresh air that hopefully will jolt your walk with the Lord into a new relationship most miss on this earth.
The result of understanding Hector’s teaching is one of the greatest freedoms a child of God can ever know—to know that in Christ, we are loved, and forgiven forever!
For some background, 20 years ago we had a daughter attending a Bible school on Thetis Island in the San Juan islands between Victoria and Vancouver, Canada.
On Sundays the students would often ferry over to a small church on Vancouver Island, pastored by Hector MacLeod. One of the students picked up his book, Forgiven Forever, and sent it to me. He said emphatically that reading it was a “life-changer”!
When I read it I understood the reason for the student’s enthusiasm. I immediately purchased 50 copies, giving them to people who, like me, had been taught that communion was the time to confess my sins to God before I ate the cracker and drank the juice.
In a nutshell, Forgiven Forever shows the absurdity of that ridiculous communion exercise. Communion yes, confession of sins, nope! And he explains why.
For 20 years we continued to order and keep copies of the book available until one day Hector told me he had no more copies available …and that he was not reprinting it.
He explained he was dying soon and was getting his affairs in order. I asked him if I could reprint it and he graciously agreed to give Compass full rights to republish.
About a month later he taught his last Bible study on a Thursday and he transitioned to heaven the following Monday at the age of 93. What an incredible testimony!
Other than minor editing, the book retains its original wording. As you’ll see, Hector was not a great author. But he wrote what the Lord had put on his heart.
In fact, you only have to read the first two chapters to get the main point of the book.
People have often written Compass thanking us for the book because of the impact it’s had on their Christian walk and their relationship with God. So our prayer is you’ll read at least some of it!

They represent the messages, campaigns, and narratives launched through governments, international institutions, media outlets, universities, activists, influencers, and social media platforms.
And they fulfill Bible prophecy.

There are only a couple of nations left who fully support Israel. Post Rapture there will be none. Backed into a corner with nothing to lose, Israel will do what she has to do to survive.
“In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again dwell on their own sites in Jerusalem." Zech. 12:6
A thought: If post-Rapture Israel were to begin taking out Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, etc. with targeted nuclear weapons killing millions, it might cause a world leader to rush in with a 10-nation/7-year security promise for Israel if she'll just stop.
Sadly, instead of reading these prophecies with hopeful anticipation, discernment, and assurance, vast segments of the church are spiraling down a dangerous road, failing to recognize the disastrous consequences of three incorrect approaches to Biblical prophecy.

Reports about the death of climate alarmism have been greatly exaggerated.
In fact, obeying United Nations climate decrees is now officially “international law.” At least that is what two key UN entities and more than 140 national governments would like humanity to believe.
In one of the most consequential developments yet for the global climate movement, the UN General Assembly voted to formally endorse and “operationalize” a 2025 ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declaring that governments are legally obligated to combat climate change.
Supporters hailed the move as a historic victory for “climate justice.” Critics blasted it as a brazen assault on national sovereignty, self-government, affordable energy, and constitutional government.
The major UN move came even as U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration were stepping up their war on the “climate change” machine. But the U.S. government’s vigorous opposition was not enough to stop the UN’s power grab.
In one of its most breathtaking rulings, the ICJ — also known as the “World Court” or “World Supreme Court” — ruled July 23, 2025 that all governments have a legal duty to protect “human rights” and fight “global warming” by restricting emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2). Officially, it was “advisory.” But on May 20 this year, the governments of the world, acting through the UN, voted to give it real force.
Apparently, just because anyone with two brain cells knows Climate Change is a scam, that's no reason not to use it as a scare tactic to gain power around the world.

President Trump recently dropped a HUGE bombshell. He says that the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) has been caught PUBLISHING FRAUDULENT MANUALS on climate change.
And, Trump has ordered Federal Suspension and Debarment Officials to review this conduct.
A Federal Suspension and Debarment Official (SDO) is the government official within a federal agency who has the legal authority to exclude individuals, companies, nonprofits, or other entities from doing business with the U.S. federal government when their conduct indicates they are not a presently responsible contractor or recipient of federal funds.
Trump said the NAS has historically published scientific manuals expressly for the federal judiciary.
NAS was founded as an independent institution in 1863 to provide science policy advice during the Abraham Lincoln administration.
Today, it is funded by a mix of federal sources, private foundations, individuals and corporations, and Trump says NAS publishes misleading, biased and fraudulent data on climate change.
In turn, the bogus material was used by judges to decide massive climate change court cases.
Trump says the taxpayers should not be funding climate fraud. He’s been talking about ending the Green New Scam for over a year.

A whistleblower clerk who sparked a national outcry after she exposed voting machine vulnerabilities emerges from 606-day false imprisonment with an urgent message for America.
After spending almost two years behind bars for attempting to preserve election records providing massive fraud, former Mesa County, Colorado Clerk Tina Peters walked free in June 2026. Her sentence was commuted by President Trump.
Held in overcrowded women’s prisons alongside violent offenders, Peters faced constant threats to her safety.
“I was in a prison with murderers, with people who had killed their children,” Peters recounted. “There were fights breaking out. People were getting hurt.”

A massive scientific study on seed oils, involving nearly 10,000 people, was hidden for over 40 years.
It's one of the most careful experiments ever run, yet its results sat unpublished in a basement until the scientist who ran it died.
This study was launched by the government to prove that animal fats caused undesirable health outcomes. They made half the participants swap out butter for vegetable oil. It was a rigorous trial, but it was never published because the results backfired on their hypothesis.

This adds fuel to the fire of lies we've been told about pretty much everything in food, drugs, government and more. The only thing we can trust is a literal translation of scripture.
