I apparently raised a few eyebrows in a previous eNews because the above chart shows Jesus coming to earth during the Tribulation. He does.
As you can see in the green line above, the Bible teaches that Jesus came to earth for 33 years, died, was resurrected and departed to heaven from the east side of the Mount of Olives near Bethany (Luke 24:50).
He then comes back to earth both in the beginning and at the end of the Tribulation. A lot of people apparently missed realizing He comes to earth at the beginning of the Tribulation.
As I've pointed out several times in the past, God's Holy Spirit has to depart prior to the Tribulation. We know this because Jesus said:
“But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper [God's Holy Spirit] will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you." John 16:7
Therefore, if Jesus had to depart the earth in order for God's Spirit to come down to permanently indwell Believers, the reverse must happen at the end of the Church Age. The Holy Spirit must depart so Jesus can return.
However, because so many refer to Jesus' return at the end of the Tribulation to be His "2nd Coming," it's a little awkward to see that Jesus actually comes to earth at the beginning of the Tribulation.
This would technically make His arrival on Mt. of Olives, coming to rule the world, His 3rd coming. Just saying...
In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; Zech. 14:4
But before Jesus comes to reign at the end of the Tribulation, we clearly see that Jesus comes first at the beginning of the 7-year period.
The green line in the graphic (right) shows where Jesus is during the Church Age and during the Tribulation.
We know Jesus comes to earth at the beginning of the Tribulation because scripture says He teaches the 144,000 Jewish Witnesses who've received a special mark on their foreheads by the four angels.
And I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God; and he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads. And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel": Rev. 7:2-4
Jesus does His teaching on Mount Zion, which is parallel to the west side of the Temple Mount/Mount Moriah. The Mount of Olives is parallel to the east side of the Temple Mount/Mt. Moriah (See map below).
Jesus arrives STANDING on Mt. Zion, #3, at the beginning of Tribulation. He comes back at the end of the tribulation and STANDS on the Mt. of Olives, #1. Lastly Jesus reigns as King of the Earth from Mt. Moriah, #2, presumably sitting!
Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. Rev. 14:1
This teaching takes place at the beginning of the 7-year Tribulation and will be a big "Come to Jesus" moment for the 144K.
Most Jews today are not very fond of Christians. After all, the persecution they endured during the last 2000 years, especially in the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition, has never been forgotten.
But when Jesus removes the scales from their eyes, the Word of God, spoken by God in the flesh, will cut to the bone.
they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn. Zech. 12:10
Personally teaching them on Mt. Zion, Jesus will connect the dots showing them that 2,000 years ago they had murdered Him—their Messiah sent by God.
I've always thought Catholics who get saved usually end-up solid die-hard Believers because they were first raised with a God awareness. When they're born again, they connect the dots seeing the rest of the story.
These Rabbinical Jews apparently respond the same way. They've spent their lives studying the Old Testament scriptures and when the coin drops, they'll become quite the world evangelists.(2)
We don't know how long Jesus stays with them. Later we see Jesus in heaven with countless Christian martyrs.
After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; Rev. 7:9
Now I know there are Biblical defenders who are going to write me and say that Jesus also showed up in the Old Testament as theophanies (1). And He certainly did. But I'm just dealing with His post-human-birth earthly appearances. So there...
