There are lots of theories about what the “unpardonable sin” is. Here are two other parallel verses:
Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. Matt. 12:31-32
but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin — because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.” Mark 3:29
The first time you read that it's usually an eye-opener—even for Believers. The key to proper understanding it is its context.
Jesus is talking to the Jews under Law, before the cross, not to Believers in the Church Age. The cross is a huge dispensational change we’ve harped on for over 30 years.
Obviously, if you're a Born-Again Believer living in the Church Age, saved by the shed blood of Christ, you can't commit the unpardonable sin because you can't lose your salvation once gained.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Eph. 2:8
There is nothing you can do, or not do, to make yourself any more or less sanctified. Jesus didn’t die for certain sins and not for other sins. He died for all the sin of all Believers.
But Jesus DID say those words to those around Him who were living under the Law, so what in the world did He mean? The answer lies in the context of the verses preceding His statement.
Early in Jesus' ministry, as He was going around choosing his disciples in the Galilee region, He was already performing many miracles.
Notably, He astonishingly raised a synagogue official’s daughter from the dead (Matt. 9:18-26), healed two blind men (Matt. 9:27-31) and healed a Jewish leper (Matt. 8:2-4). Not to mention the hundreds, if not thousands, of other miracles.
All the talk of Jesus’ miracles reached the Jewish leadership in Jerusalem. So several scribes (lawyers) and Pharisees took the week-long trip (over 
100-miles) up the Jordan river to the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee to see for themselves what was going on (Mark 2:16).
Through the years there had been numerous people claiming they were the Jewish Messiah. So their purpose in traveling that far from Jerusalem was to find something to discredit/destroy Jesus.
But the Pharisees went out and conspired against Him, as to howthey might destroy Him. Matt. 12:14
Expecting to prove Jesus was a fake, the Jewish leaders brought an obviously demon-possessed man in front of a large crowd near Capernaum.
As they were going out [from Capernaum], a mute, demon-possessed man was brought to Him. Matt. 9:32
This poor guy was both blind and mute, so communicating with him was next to impossible. He couldn’t see what someone wanted him to do and although he could hear, he couldn’t respond.
The Pharisees were basically saying to Jesus, “We think you’re a fake, but if you’re really the Messiah, let’s see you heal this one." To their surprise, Jesus obliged.
After the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke; and the crowds were amazed, and were saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” Matt. 9:33
The large crowd was blown away by this miracle.
All the crowds were amazed, and were saying, “This man cannot be the Son of David, can he?” Matt. 12:23
The “Son of David” is, of course, a reference to the Messiah. The scribes and Pharisees were caught off guard when their trap didn’t work. And all the peeps watching these miracles were now openly wondering if Jesus could be the Messiah.
The Pharisees couldn’t deny these miracles being performed in plain sight. So to save face they resorted to something no one could easily refute—saying these miracles were not from God, but rather from Satan.
The scribes who came down from Jerusalem(3) were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.” Mark 3:22
Jesus respectfully responds to the Pharisees in private (Rom. 13:7; Matt. 18:15):
And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!" Mark 3:23-26
After Jesus explained to the Pharisees how illogical and impossible their argument was, He then addressed the crowd with a blistering rebuke because of what the Pharisees were saying:
He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters. Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. Matt. 12:30-32
Jesus concludes with:
You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. Matt. 12:34
If Jesus is referring to an individual, most Bible teachers teach the unpardonable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit by rejecting Jesus' offer of blood redemption through death. But as explained above, this wouldn't apply to Born-Again Believers.
However, noted and highly published Jewish Bible Scholar Arnold Fructenbaum points out that the word “whoever” in Matthew 12:32 could refer to either an individual or to a group, depending on the context.(2)
And Fructenbaum further makes the case that the context is a group because it says “This brood,” which in the Greek means “this generation.”(1)
Therefore Fructenbaum believes the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is Israel’s willful rejection of the Messiah, whose miracles via the Holy Spirit were proof He was God-sent. By rejecting the work of the Holy Spirit, they were rejecting Jesus.
Another reason Fructenbaum says it could not be an individual sin is because some individuals at that time escaped this judgment. Individual Jews living in the time of Jesus, like Paul, got saved. But Israel, as a nation, was guilty and could not be forgiven.
And this would also explain why the penalty for Israel reached into heaven—“the world to come"—which Fructenbaum believes is referring to the Messianic Age/1000 year reign of Christ as King of the Earth. So Israel‘s national penalty was not ushering in the Messianic Kingdom.
As we know, Israel suffered defeat from the Romans in 70 A.D. Jerusalem and the famed Jewish Temple were destroyed, and the Jews were scattered worldwide until 1948.
And to clearly repeat, regardless of how these scriptures affected the Jews at the time of Christ, as a Believer today you can’t commit the unforgivable sin because everything sinful you have done, are doing, and will do in the future was paid for on the Cross 2000 years ago.
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross [2000 years ago]. Col. 2:13-14

The above picture was snapped a few days ago when a shooter began killing people in a New York skyscraper. People were blocking the door so the shooter couldn't get it. These terrible shootings happen all too often.

The United States' total fertility rate fell to a record low in 2024, dipping below 1.6 children per woman, according to new federal data released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
This marks a significant demographic milestone for a country that once stood apart among developed nations for maintaining a replacement-level birth rate of around 2.1 children per woman.
In the early 1960s, the U.S. total fertility rate was around 3.5, but plummeted to 1.7 by 1976 after the Baby Boom ended. It gradually rose to 2.1 in 2007 before falling again, aside from a 2014 uptick.
The rate in 2023 was 1.621 but inched down in 2024 to 1.599, according to the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics.
The fertility rate in the U.S. dropped to an all-time low in 2024 with fewer than 1.6 children being born per woman, federal data released Thursday shows. The U.S. was once among only a few developed countries with a rate that ensured each generation had enough children to replace itself — about 2.1 kids per woman. But it has been sliding in America for close to two decades as more women are waiting longer to have children or never taking that step at all.
The new statistic is on par with fertility rates in western European countries, according to World Bank data. Alarmed by recent drops, the Trump administration has taken steps to increase falling birth rates, like issuing an executive order in February meant to expand access to and reduce costs of in vitro fertilization and backing the idea of “baby bonuses” that might encourage more couples to have kids. Who's surprised?
Palestinian statehood comes at the end of negotiations for a two-state solution and that process can no longer be held in abeyance, Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said Thursday.
“A negotiated two-state solution remains the only path that can offer people on both sides a life in peace, security, and dignity,” he said in a statement issued shortly before his trip to Israel and the Palestinian territories, as reported by Ynet News.
“For Germany, the recognition of a Palestinian state comes more at the end of that process. But such a process must begin now.”
Wadephul’s remarks follow a string of announcements made by different countries on plans to recognize a Palestinian state and in doing so reward Hamas terrorists for their acts of aggression against Israel.
(Of course, Israel tried this once before and look where it got them...they will likely take out Gaza 100% before they'll give them another round of military autonomy.)
