God’s Prophets

But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. 2Pet. 1:20-21

There is only one thing that separates the Bible from all the other books in the world — and that’s the numerous fulfilled and to-be-fulfilled prophecies scattered throughout the scriptures.

Roughly 30% of the Bible’s verses contain prophetic proclamations. And every prophecy has come true exactly as written, word for word.

“Behold, the former things have come to pass, now I declare new things; Before they spring forth I proclaim them to you.” Is. 42:9

So if past prophecies have been fulfilled word for word, we can be assured that future prophecies will be fulfilled word for word.

God uses prophecy to prove He is God as no one knows the future except the Creator God of the universe. Only He can predict the future with 100% accuracy.

These amazingly specific proclamations are inspired by the Creator God of the universe and transmitted via mere men. They prove the rest of the Bible is also true and can be trusted. All of it.

Throughout history, God chose His prophets for this special role. They were usually revered but often despised if the message from God was negative.

Jesus held the Jews accountable for murdering God’s prophets through the years. During Jesus’ last week, two days before His crucifixion, He stood in the Temple addressing the Pharisees saying:

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! Matt. 23:37a

In fact, the entire Matthew 23 chapter shows the disdain Jesus (God) had for the state of Israel at that point in time. The Jewish leadership had grown into a legalistic governing body that missed the entire point of God’s calling.

Jesus followed His statement with this concluding thought that’s a quote (in caps) from Psalm 118:26:

“For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!’” Matt. 23:39

Jesus was confirming He was allowing the Jews to aimlessly wander around the globe, often persecuted, for 2000 years… while allowing the Believers to be a part of a new time period, a new dispensation we refer to as the Church Age. They became His new worldwide emphasis/focus.

Back to the subject of God's prophets…

If you claimed to be a prophet, you immediately received special privileges because of your position. Of course, Satan sometimes had fake/false prophets claim the status. So God set up a way for Israel's leaders to determine if the prophet was a true prophet from God.

When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. Deut. 18:22

It’s a pretty simple test — if a prophet predicted one single thing that did not come true, he was a false prophet, not speaking with inspiration from God. If he said it would rain on Wednesday, and it didn't, he was a false prophet.

And the penalty for being a false prophet was being stoned to death.

But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die. You may say in your heart, “How will we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?” When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. Deut. 18:20-22

Therefore, if a prophet went his entire life with everything he prophesied coming true, his recorded prophecies were saved and are part of the Old Testament scriptures we have today.

There are 70 prophets found in scripture.(1) Some of the more well-known prophets were:

Abraham- Gen. 20:7
Moses- Deut. 34:10
Samuel- 1Sam. 3:19-20
David- Acts 2:30
Elijah & Elisha- 1Kings 19:15-16
Jeremiah- Jer. 1:5
John the Baptist- Matt. 11:9-14
Jesus (before He was resurrected)- John 7:40

Pants for Passover?

And of course there’s Isaiah, who proved to be a most unique prophet. He was the most quoted prophet in the New Testament—65 times.

In Isaiah’s day, roughly 745 to 685 BC, the leaders of Israel were beginning to think Egypt was a country to look up to (Is. 30:1-5; 31:1-3). So God had Isaiah go naked and barefoot for three years to signify how He would allow the Assyrians to strip and shame the Egyptians.

And the LORD said, “Even as My servant Isaiah has gone naked and barefoot three years as a sign and token against Egypt and Cush, so the king of Assyria will lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush, young and old, naked and barefoot with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.” Is. 20:3-4

Naturally, I wonder how Isaiah wearing no clothes worked when he and his wife had people over for dinner. That had to be a bit awkward. Or at Passover, when he and his family shared a lamb. I bet no one wanted to sit where he just sat!

Don’t you think his wife would eventually say something like “Isaiah, can’t you just put on some pants for Passover?”

Isaiah would probably respond- "Hmmmm...., I don't wear pants, I wear a robe."

Isaiah's wife- "Well, one day some guy in Coeur d'Alene will need the alliteration of 'Pants and Passover,' and 'robe' just doesn't work."

Prophets in the New Testament

The role of prophet in the New Testament is much different from the prophets’ role in the Old Testament.

And He [Jesus] gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; Eph. 4:11-12

Strong's definition of prophet:
4396. profh/thß prophetes, prof-ay´-tace; from a compound of 4253 and 5346; a foreteller (“prophet”); by analogy, an inspired speaker; by extension, a poet: — prophet.

The prophet that Jesus raises up to equip the saints is not like the prophet in the Old Testament. Strong's definition says the Greek word used for “prophet” has the connotation of “gifted speaker.” Truly we have all heard men teach the Bible who we knew were gifted by God.

For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation. One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies [a God-gifted speaker] edifies the church. 1Cor. 14:2

So New Testament prophets were gifts to the church from Jesus to provide edification, exhortation, and comfort through gifted men teaching scripture.

We don’t need prophets today to add to scripture. Actually, in the Church Age God says we have everything we need to know in the pages of the Bible and nothing can be added.

I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; Rev. 22:18

Today, born-again Believers are “in Christ” and therefore we have the Holy Spirit illuminating scripture to us. The more scriptural truth we learn, the more discerning and the less deceived we are.

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. Heb. 1:1-2

Those living from sinful Adam up until the cross had no permanent indwelling of God's Spirit. A new day had dawned. In the chart below, the pink arrows represents the Holy Spirit, the red arrows represent Jesus.

False Prophet Test in the Last Days

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2Pet. 2:1

And just like there was a test to determine genuine prophets in the Old Testament, we too have a test in the Church Age to make sure our Bible teachers have at least the most basic foundational doctrines in order.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. 1John 4:1   

Pretty simple, Jesus is God in human flesh. If you deny Jesus is God, you’re in big trouble, no matter what good intentions you have. Think Mormon.

Summary

God PROVES He is God via the prophecies in the Bible being 100% accurate. The fulfilled prophecies prove the rest of the Bible is also 100% accurate.

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 2Tim. 3:16

So we can depend on every word in the Bible to be exactly what God wants us to have. God supernaturally protected the accuracy of the Bible for 4000 years.

So when we read about the fascinating details of the Rapture in 1Thes. 4, we have a tendency to stop at verse 17. But we need to keep reading through the next verse:

Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1Th. 4:18

So knowing about the great exodus of Believers leaving this earth should be a great comfort to us. Through scripture analysis we know God’s close to releasing His wrath on an unsuspecting earth. But He promises Believers will be removed before the wrath begins.

We don’t know how close we are to our fateful exit. It could be days, weeks, months or even a few years. But we’re closer than we’ve ever been!

Until that day, use us, Lord!

Global Heatwave and the Tonga Eruption

I was dumbfounded to read Jeff Childers' excellent expose' of what might be causing the weird weather summer. If you missed it, his article is pasted in below, with permission.

Sometimes I wonder whether the powers that be were encouraged by how well the covid psyop worked on a whole lot of people, some of whom are still wearing masks and whining that we aren’t. These unfortunate souls were so susceptible to the government’s psychological suggestions that they would be happier staying masked forever. They have found meaning and a complete life purpose in the CDC-supplied goal of mask Nirvana, a kind of salvation-by-works religious conviction.

Surely you’ve seen all the climate hysteria lately, and probably seen lots of counter argument. But there are some things they haven’t been telling us, that are in themselves complete explanations for any increased world temperatures we might be living through this summer. It’s not carbon dioxide, as crypto-marxist, faux protest group “Extinction Rebellion” wants you to think.

Ready to learn something? Let’s meet the historic, record-shattering Hunga Tonga volcanic eruption of 2022, which I bet you never heard of. Back in January 2022, you were probably distracted by covid mandates or maybe by Biden calling himself “Senator” again. The short version is an underwater Pacific Ocean volcano named Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai,  490 feet under the waves, massively erupted, bigger than any other modern eruption, even bigger than Mount Pinatubo.

You never heard about it since it was underwater and nobody died. But the erupting lava instantly vaporized fantastic, unimaginable amounts of sea water, which billowed into the atmosphere, changing the water composition of Earth’s atmosphere and heating it up for years. In only a few days, the superheated water from the Hunga Tonga eruption blanketed the globe, pole to pole, East to West.

The eruption was so big it could be clearly seen from space.

Current estimates are three times higher than the original: scientists now think it was closer to 150,000 metric tons, or 40 trillion gallons, of super-heated water instantly injected into the atmosphere. Talk about a greenhouse. Water vapor — humidity — is a much more effective greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.

A new study published in April this year analyzed the 1-year aftereffects:

With a year’s hindsight, the 2023 researchers also concluded that Hunga Tonga was one of the most remarkable climate events in modern history, and its effects are expected to last for years:

Say hello to the “global warming” plume most completely ignored by corporate media. These researchers were even more direct in connecting the “historic heat wave” to Hunga Tonga:

The story made the science news, which makes it even more surprising that corporate media somehow found a way to successfully ignore the story. Here’s an EOS headline from March of this year:

See that? Hunga Tonga warming could last five more years. At this rate, the plume will likely outlive Joe Biden.

Corporate media isn’t ignoring the story because it lacks for dramatic graphs and charts. Here’s a chart I found showing how atmospheric water vapor increased recently compared to the prior twenty years. The atmosphere’s water concentration is off the chart:

See that? For the first time since tracking began, the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere is pegged out at the maximum, across the board.

Here’s why corporate media is ignoring the most dramatic climate even in modern history: because you can’t legislate underwater volcanoes. You can try, but they won’t listen. So what’s the fun in that? Corporate media only exists to further political ends. Since volcanoes aren’t subject to politics, why bother?

“Okay Jeff,” you say, “nice volcano theory, but does anything back it up?” Well, yes, I’m glad you asked. The Ethical Skeptic, who has done so much great work crunching covid mortality figures the last few years, recently turned his attention to the climate. He’s been noting another startling fact that you probably never heard of: for some reason, worldwide ocean surface temperatures have bafflingly jumped rapidly this year — much too fast for any cause to have been atmospheric.

First, although Antarctic ice has just very recently started melting quickly, and a lot, it is during a record cold winter in Antarctica right now, which is why you haven’t heard about it. The melting is pretty dramatic:

Ethical’s theory is that the oceans are heating up due to increased activity in the Earth’s molten core. Like the kind of activity that could cause giant underwater volcanoes to erupt. Various data support his theory. One study he often cites found dramatically increased water temperatures at abyssal depths — deep, deep underwater, where increased air temperatures have little or no effect.

In other words, Ethical is suggesting that the water is heating the air — instead of the other way around. And the Earth’s core is heating the water.  It’s a theory that explains everything.

Meanwhile, “science” is baffled. From just a month ago, in mid-June:

See? But though scientists are baffled, corporate media and its repulsive allies are busily blaming ocean warming on carbon dioxide — a ludicrous notion. Here’s one example from Vice News (a promoted tweet!). In a clip showing ocean water bubbling around, attached to an article about rising Red Sea temperatures, Vice doesn’t quite claim carbon dioxide is heating the water, but it sure strongly implies it:

I’ve run these next headlines before, but they are worth repeating. The following 2023 stories all show scientists have lately been discovering deep-sea “hydrothermal vents” that are “hot enough to melt lead”:

That’s pretty hot. What causes boiling-hot, deep-ocean vents? Volcanic activity. Magma from the Earth’s core is heating up the water, which is venting out, raising ocean temperatures and putting even more water vapor into the atmosphere, which heats the air through greenhouse effects.

It has nothing to do with carbon dioxide.

Hysterical corporate media articles about global warming ignore all these facts. They ignore Hunga Tonga. They ignore rapidly melting Antarctic sea ice. They ignore abyssal water heating and related deep-sea data. They only want to show you the summer heat map and run clips of cantankerous teenage climate propagandist Great Thunberg whining that your SUV is literally killing everybody’s grandma and will eventually burn the Earth into a pile of hot ash.

Don’t you believe it. “Science” has only the barest notion of what heats and cools the Earth, and they even refuse to grapple with the evidence they do have. The climate has been changing ever since God created the World. It is the pinnacle of human hubris to believe that we know what the optimal global climate is, or to think we can somehow freeze that optimal climate into place without breaking everything else.

A Tennessee school district offered voluntary training to its staff about "cultural competency" which included instruction that "White Christian" people are privileged while "people of color" and "polyamorous" people are oppressed.

According to documents obtained via a public records request, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System sent Parents Defending Education (PDE) a presentation from the district’s ENGAGE conference, which was held on July 19.

The presentation, titled "The World Needs More Purple People" which promoted the idea of using "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to connect." A leading US scientist expects academics who played down the idea Covid-19 leaked from a Chinese laboratory, despite their private doubts, will face criminal prosecution for fraud and has praised journalist Sharri Markson for her dogged investigation of the so-called “lab leak theory”.

Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist and professor at Rutgers University, told The Australian the “preponderance of evidence” available supported the notion the new virus emerged from research-related activities at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, before rapidly spreading throughout the world in early 2020.

Professor Ebright, a long term advocate for reducing the risk of biological weapons programs, said the arguments over the origin of Covid-19 was “moving out of the scientific community arena, into the congressional arena, and ultimately it will move into the judicial arena.”

The Thief Who Believed The Gospel Just Before Death

How does the thief on the cross fit into your theology? No baptism, no communion, no confirmation, no speaking in tongues, no mission trip, no volunteerism, no financial gifts, and no church clothes. He couldn't even bend his knees to pray. He didn't say the sinner's prayer and among other things, he was a thief. Jesus didn't take way his pain, heal his body, or smite his scoffers. Yet, it was a thief who walked into paradise the same hour as Jesus simply by BELIEVING.

He had nothing more to offer other than his belief that Jesus was who He said He was. No spin from brilliant theologians. No ego or arrogance. No shiny lights, skinny jeans, or crafty words. No fog machine, donuts, or coffee in the lobby. Just a naked dying man on a cross unable to even fold his hands to pray. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that whoever BELIEVES in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) That is the good news of the Gospel!
