Dear Friends of Compass--
The response to our recent Compass eNews regarding the Bible and the coronavirus was amazing (1). And out of the responses we learned something we felt important to immediately share with everyone on our eNews list.
First and foremost, I am NOT a doctor and I am not giving medical advice. I'm just going to share some information I think is possibly important and timely to know.
This has to do with coronavirus and the use of ibuprofen/Advil. Before Coronavirus began killing people, the use of ibuprofen has been receiving more and more debate about problems with its use. Dr. OZ has long railed against its use(2). So this will not be new info for some.
Here is what we received: (Please note that it is unedited—just as we received it.)
I got this from a very trusted friend of mine who’s a doctor, and it’s been copied to literally dozens and dozens of doctors. And it reads as follows:
“I confirmed the info below with my cousin Arash who was the Director of the Pulmonary Department at the Harvard Medical School and Hospital. He has been treating COVID-19 patients in ICU for the past two weeks and validated the accuracy of this information. Please send this to as many people as you can. This information might save lives. It's from a friend of mine who I’ve known for years, so I have absolutely no doubt that this is the straight deal.
Information from Vienna’s Laboratory study COVID-19 say vast majority of people who died had ibuprofen, Advil, in their system. Do not take it. Those who recovered did not take ibuprofen.
So if you have symptoms, take paracetamol, acetaminophen, Tylenol, only. It looks like this virus thrives on ibuprofen so don’t do it and tell everyone you can. Please pass this information on to everyone in your family, each family. I don’t want to miss anyone so share as much as you can or copy and paste.
I just spoke with my friend who was a nurse in Vancouver, and they just learned that Advil makes the virus 10 times worse. Tylenol only for the time being. She said Advil kick-starts the virus into pneumonia.
She also said she found people in their forties and fifties, who were previously healthy, to be on ventilators and having major difficulty breathing because they took Advil.
Interesting. So, after reading that and doing some research I found this quote from the Health Minister of France:
In English, the French minister says:
Taking anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen, cortisone, ...) could be a factor in worsening the infection. If you have a fever, take paracetamol. If you are already on anti-inflammatory drugs or in doubt, ask your doctor for advice.
Fox News has discussed this topic along the same lines, and as I mentioned, Dr. Oz has long proclaimed problems with this aspirin substitute.
There IS debate:
