I've always been fascinated by the length of time people lived in the time before the flood of Noah. Check out these lifespans:
Adam - 930 years
Seth - 912 years
Enosh - 905 years
Kenan - 910 years
Mahalalel - 895 years
Methuselah - 969 years
Lamech - 777 years
Noah - 950 years
Shem - 600 years
The average life span before the flood was 857 years. It was enough time to do quite a lot of things before you died! You could build an entire city, ten times!
Think of the number of relatives you would have! It would be hard to keep a Christmas card list even if you just kept it to immediate family!
There are several theories as to why people lived longer before the flood. Some scientists speculate that there was some kind of vapor canopy around the earth (loosely based on Genesis 1:7) and that it fell to the earth at Noah's flood.
So the argument is that this canopy would have filtered out the harmful sun rays, enabling people to live up to 1000 years.
Since it had never rained prior to Noah's flood, SOMETHING made it rain for 40 days and nights. So the vapor canopy theory is possible.
But it's important to point out that MOST of the water from the flood came from below the earth's surface, not from raining 40 days! So getting enough rain to flood the earth is really a moot point.
Others disagree with the vapor/sky theory arguing that a vapor canopy around the entire earth would make it scalding hot like a sauna—and nothing could have survived.
Others argue that the decrease in lifespan years is due to sin taking its toll on mankind. Well, probably had something to do with that...Adam and Eve originally had perfect genes. But if it was the sin problem, why did it stop decreasing at 70 years? Sin sure didn't stop!
Flavius Josephus, a first-century historian, attributed those living long lives to the food being better, closer to the original plants God designed at creation and maligned due to Noah's flood. Not sure how the flood was supposed to change the DNA. Josephus had some other things wrong too!
But the bottom line is that God eventually set the average lifetime to not exceed 120 years and to average about 70-80 years in length. And the 120-year limit was given at the time of Noah's flood. Lifespans went downhill after that.
Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” Gen. 6:3
As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years, Psa. 90:10
So that's where we are today, but in the future those living in the 1000-year reign of Christ, in the Millennium, will live lives like those living before Noah. In fact, if someone dies before reaching 100 years old in the Millennium people will think they've been cursed!
“No longer will there be in [Jerusalem] an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his days; For the youth will die at the age of one hundred and the one who does not reach the age of one hundred will be thought accursed. Is. 65:20
The only consistent physical earth characteristic for "before the flood" and "after the Tribulation" that I can find is that there are no high mountains in either. The extremely high mountains on earth came during the flood when God raised the mountains and lowered the valleys as the waters receded.
The mountains rose; the valleys sank down to the place which You established for them. Psa. 104:8
During the Tribulation these high mountains are flattened with the seventh angel pouring out God's bowl of wrath. That bowl included a worldwide earthquake so mighty that it caused severe atmospheric disruption — 100 pound hailstones pelted the earth. Ouch!
Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air, ... and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was extremely severe. Rev. 16:17, 20-21
This happens at the end of the 7 years of Tribulation. By this time the earth's population will have been reduced so severely by drugs (Rev. 6:2), starvation (Rev. 6:8) and fire (Rev.16:8,9a) that few people are left alive.
...few men are left. Is. 24:6
The earth will be completely laid waste and completely despoiled, for the LORD has spoken this word. Is. 24:3
Thankfully, if you're a participant of the soon-coming rescue, the Rapture of the Saints, you'll miss all that death and destruction. And after the seven long years of shock and horror are over, we'll return to the earth where we'll be quite busy as priests.
Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years. Rev. 20:6
With new sinless permanent containers/bodies for our eternal spirit (2Cor. 5:1-3) that are fashioned just like Jesus' resurrected body (Phil. 3:21), we'll be overseeing sinful people (humans in the Millennium are still sinners until they die) who live to be hundreds of years old. Hey, more time to conquer their sinful habits I guess.
I have no clue what our responsibilities might be during Jesus' 1000-year reign. All I know is that we won't be disappointed!

All the banking problems cropping up in the last week make me wonder...is all this being done on purpose to provide an excuse to collapse the entire

Of course, if they were FORCED to take over, they would be able to implement their traceable digital dollars. Hmmm....
Thinking like that would just be considered another conspiracy theory. You know, like questioning if the va((ine was actually safe and effective, or deadly.
What we do know, that's provable, is that the FDIC just used their entire insurance fund of some $150 billion (estimated by Doug Casey) on the first two failed banks. There is little to nothing left for the next failures, which are sure to come. The FDIC fund is wholly insufficient to cover the $9.6 trillion in U.S. insured deposits.
And, as we know, the FDIC is not Federal, despite its name.
So when another bank fails, they only have one choice, what we used to call print more money. Today it's just push out more digits. And this means more inflation. Adding fuel to the fire. 
As we've written about in the past, we know severe inflation, at least for food, will be in place right after the Rapture. It will take everything you make in a day to just buy food, with nothing left for housing, clothes, cars, energy, etc. (Rev. 6:6).
Inflation in the U.S. is already running around 10-12% if measured the way we did in the 1970s. So it will only get worse, not only for the U.S. but worldwide.
But God is in control, even of our government's craziness. If we seek first the Kingdom of God, He promises to take care of us.
"...do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on... And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?... Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Billionaire investor Carl Icahn said that the U.S. economy is at a breaking point, blaming “worse than mediocre” leadership and warning that soaring inflation threatens to topple America’s position on the world stage.
Icahn made the remarks during an interview on CNBC’s “Closing Bell” program on Tuesday.
“The system is breaking down, and we absolutely have a major problem in our economy today,” Icahn told the outlet, while labeling the United States as “one of the worst countries in the world as far as corporate governance.”
The renowned investor then warned about the dangers of persistently high inflation in the United States, which at last count came in at 6 percent in February, in annualized terms.
“Inflation is the worst thing an economy can have, and I think people underrate that,” he said, adding that, historically, “every hegemony has been destroyed by inflation.”
Some contributors to inflation were running higher than the headline pace 6 percent last month, including ones that lower-income households spend a high proportion of their money on, like food and shelter. Food prices rose 9.5 percent year over year and shelter rose by an annualized 8.1 percent.
Besides inflation, Icahn said he sees other “major problems in this economy right now,” including leadership at corporations and on Capitol Hill.
“I’m not going to get into politics, but you do feel that in Washington nobody knows what’s really going on,” he said, before turning to the issue of boardroom weakness.
“Leadership is worse than mediocre” in many U.S. corporations, he said, acknowledging that there are exceptions.
