Only the Lord knows what's ahead for Believers this year. But regardless of what circumstances we find ourselves in, our response should be the same: Faithfully represent God while looking for opportunities to share the Gospel.
For the Lord to use us, we'll need to be well-armored with God's Word. We'll also have to "Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em." Yes, that's a quote from a Kenny Rogers song, not scripture. But it IS in the Bible, even though not word-for-word.
Paul, who obviously never knew Mr. Rogers, apparently used that reasoning at the end of his 3rd Missionary Journey.
I believe this because after arriving in Corinth from Athens, on his SECOND Missionary Journey, rather than doubling back around the northern perimeter of Aegean Sea, he boarded a ship to scoot directly east across to Ephesus.
But on his THIRD Missionary Journey, Paul basically followed the same route to Greece as the second journey, ending up at Corinth.
After three months Paul was ready to sail as he had before, due east, taking the shortest route to Syria. But he learned of a plot to kill him aboard that ship.
And there [Corinth] he spent three months, and when a plot was formed against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia. Acts 20:3
Paul, seeing danger ahead, changed his plans to avoid being killed. He immediately sailed north, away from the danger even though it meant an additional two to three weeks of sailing and walking.
And you have to understand that Paul was basically a rock star at this point as he performed so many miracles that people were taking cloth handkerchiefs and aprons that he had used to place on sick people to heal them.
God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out. Acts 19:11-12
But despite knowing God was using him mightily, he didn't just presume that "God would protect him." He knew when to "fold 'em" and take a different route around the known danger.
As we navigate the wild and turbulent waters ahead in 2022, Believers have to be smart. We have an adversary who wants to do us harm.
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1Pet. 5:8
We need to consistently study our Bibles for armor so we'll know when to be bold (hold 'em) and when to turn away.
Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, ‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’” Matt. 4:7
We need all the help we can get to make good decisions, so we pray for wisdom daily.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5
Whatever God has for us this year, we want to make good Christ-centered decisions as we look for ways to proclaim the Gospel truth. Because when it's all over, all that really matters is who goes to heaven and who goes to hell!

There will come a day when it'll be too late to share what we know. Use us, Lord!
