Every four or five years or so we like to catch up our new subscribers with the info about the Pilgrims' tough voyage coming from Europe on the Mayflower and planting a Christian settlement in America.
Susie and I try to read this account each year to our grand-kids. Despite having read it for years, it still gets to me when I read what the Pilgrims went through. They were determined to have a church where Jesus and scripture were King, not the King and/or Queen of England.

After the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588, the Church of England became the official church in England and was headed by the Queen of England, Elizabeth I.
All those with religious convictions were under the authority of the bishops of the Church. These bishops began to create power positions and ruled over the congregations—a dogma of the Roman Church.
Several hundred people were having great difficulty in worshiping with freedom, so they began to speak out about their commitment to Jesus and their desire to follow only the writings of the scriptures. These people became known in England as the “Separatists.”
Since they did not want to obey the rules of the King’s Church, which was the law of the land, they began to have secret meetings.
However, the King heard they were holding clandestine gatherings, and he began to put some of the men into prison. He caused many problems and trials in an attempt to get these people to bow to the laws of the Church of England.
The church leaders became harsh and cruel, making it more dangerous for these committed Christians to worship according to scripture. Consequently, they were afraid to stay in England, so they began to contemplate a move to a place where they could worship as they pleased.
In 1608 the Separatists moved to Holland, seeking Christian freedom. They lived in Holland for 12 years, but life there was very difficult. The men worked extremely hard but received little to show for their hard labor.
The parents also became concerned about their children, fearing that they might forget the culture and customs of their native England.
Furthermore, they did not want their children to become sailors and soldiers for Holland, which was customary.
It seems the Lord used these concerns and their difficult life to cause them to explore the possibilities of going to the New World, to a land called America.
The people began to lay plans for a move to this newly discovered land. Their search for a way to the New World and a means to ship their supplies led these people to some businessmen.
They were able to make an agreement for 35 of them to go to the new land if others would work for these businessmen for seven years.
They thought this agreement unfair, but it was the only way they could find to get to the New World, so an agreement was made.
The departing 35 picked up the name of “Pilgrim” since a pilgrim is someone who goes on a long, long journey.
The Pilgrims returned to England from Holland determined to set sail for the New World and boarded a cargo ship acquired by the businessmen called the “Mayflower.”
And even though the Mayflower was not designed to carry passengers, the ship did bring 102 people from England to the New World in the year 1620.
Out of the 102 passengers, 35 of them were Christians from the Separatist group from Holland.
Sailing conditions were extremely poor, and the sailors on the ship became hostile toward the Pilgrims due to their practice of singing spiritual songs and praying.
The Pilgrims, in turn, did not like the sailors using foul language.
There was little each family could take along on the voyage because there wasn’t much room. Each family could bring one box which contained the family Bible.
The women brought a few cooking utensils and the men brought a gun or sword and a few tools for building and working in the gardens.
A mother with a baby could only take along a cradle for the baby to sleep in.
It was dangerous for a small ship like the Mayflower to make such a long voyage—especially by itself. In those days one ship never sailed alone.
Living conditions on the ship were miserable. The food consisted of salted beef, pork or fish and hard, dry biscuits.
Sleeping quarters were on the floor below the main deck where hardly any light or fresh air existed. If they wanted to bathe they had to wash in salty water.
Most of the people had to wear the same clothes day after day for the 66-day voyage. Sanitary facilities were non-existent.
During one dangerous storm the main beam cracked. It splintered the main deck, causing water to pour in on the Pilgrims who were living on the lower deck. Their clothes, bedding and food lay in water, making living conditions intolerable.
Many of the people on board became deathly ill. The sickness was so severe even the sailors began to pray with the Pilgrims for an end to the terrible voyage.
The Pilgrims knew it was only by God’s mercy that they could survive the voyage.
It was the morning of November 9, 1620, 66 days later, when they saw the sandy beaches of Cape Cod in what is today the State of Massachusetts. (See Additional Notes below)
Many of the people on the ship, led by the Pilgrims, fell on their knees and blessed the God of heaven who had brought them over the vast and furious ocean.
And now they were here in a strange land where there were no homes, no towns and no friends to greet them. They continued living aboard the Mayflower for another 33 days until a landing site could be found with a place to make their homes.
On December 16, 1620, the Mayflower landed at an area which the Pilgrims called Plymouth because Plymouth, England was their point of departure, and they had received kindness from Christians there.
This was the beginning of the first Christian settlement in the new land called America.
In the area surrounding Plymouth where the Pilgrims decided to stay, they found running brooks and fields which had already been cleared for planting. Here they would be able to worship God, pray and sing songs with complete freedom.
Trials in building this Christian settlement were many. The Pilgrims had to contend with the cold and snow, lack of food, sickness, death, loneliness and conflicts with Indians.
During February of that first winter, there were times when only six or seven people were well enough to take care of the ones who were sick.
By spring, half of the pilgrims and sailors had died. Three entire families died during the initial days. The rest were alone, except for their God and their commitment.
It was this commitment to Jesus Christ and their faith in Him that gave them the courage and strength to carry on. Their faith had been tested and tried, and built up through the experiences they had endured in England, Holland and aboard the Mayflower.
This gave them the strength to persevere, and establish the first light of Jesus in the new land of America. Through these Pilgrims the spiritual history of American Christianity had its beginning.
On April 5, 1621, four months after arriving in America, the Mayflower headed back to England. But not one Pilgrim returned.
As summer approached, their faithfulness and commitment to Jesus began to reveal the fruits of their commitment. William Bradford, one of the leaders of the Pilgrims, wrote that they had all things in plenty because the corn had grown well.
A friendly Indian named Squanto (see additional notes below), who had traveled abroad and knew the English language, taught the Pilgrims how to plant. It appears he was God-sent.
The Pilgrims had plenty to eat and were careful to lay up in store for the next winter.
During the summer they were able to build several homes. Most of the dangers of sickness passed and their friendship with the Indians allowed them to live in peace.
Through the grace of God, they had been able to do what they set out to do. They found a place where they could live and worship God in their own way with complete freedom.
In October of 1621, nearly a year after their arrival, the Pilgrims decided to set aside a special time to give thanks to the Lord for His faithfulness, a commemoration we now call Thanksgiving.

Additional Thanksgiving Facts:
The Pilgrims originally planned to settle in the northern part of the Virginia Colony, which was an English colonial territory at the time. However, due to unfavorable weather conditions and navigational challenges, they eventually landed in what is now known as Plymouth, Massachusetts, in December 1620.
This unplanned landing eventually led to the establishment of Plymouth Colony, one of the earliest English settlements in North America.
The celebration we now refer to as “The First Thanksgiving” involved a three-day harvest festival in October, which may have been inspired by the Biblical holiday of Sukkot, or The Feast of Tabernacles.
About 90 hungry Wampanoag Indian warriors joined the 53 surviving Pilgrims for this occasion (nearly half the colonists had died during the brutal winter).
The Englishmen provided some vegetables, fish, and perhaps wild turkeys, while the natives brought five recently hunted deer as house gifts.
Squanto was a Native American from the Patuxet tribe (which was part of the Wampanoag confederacy) and he is best known for being an early liaison between the Wampanoags and the Pilgrims.
Squanto had grown up in the village that would later become Plymouth Colony. Early in his life, Squanto was captured by a ruthless sea captain who kidnapped him and sold him into slavery in Spain.
After a few years, he was freed by kindly monks, then made his way to England, and finally sailed across the Atlantic—only to find his friends and family all wiped out by disease when he arrived home in 1619.
The leader of Plymouth Colony believed Squanto was “a special instrument sent of God for their good beyond their expectation.”
The original Thanksgiving lasted 3 full days.
Americans eat more than 46 million turkeys on Thanksgiving Day each year.
According to a survey by Instacart, Cabernet Sauvignon is the most popular type of wine Americans pair with their Thanksgiving dinner. Coming in second is Chardonnay, with a red blend placing third.
An estimated 50 million pumpkin pies are served on Thanksgiving day in America. Over 700 million pounds of turkey are served.
Jingle Bells was originally written for a Sunday School Thanksgiving program in 1857, and originally titled "One Horse Open Sleigh."
The most popular cartoon shown on Thanksgiving is "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," despite Woodstock eating turkey (a bird eating another bird).

However, Thomas Jefferson, the third US president, thought the eagle would be a better option. As a result, Franklin ended up naming the turkey “Tom” after Thomas Jefferson.
The average American consumes around 3,000 calories from their Thanksgiving meal. It takes 10 hours of steady walking to burn off an average Thanksgiving meal.
More home-cooking-related fires occur on Thanksgiving than any other day of the year.

The products that result from this process have been met with excitement due to their potential to replace the millions of animals being raised on factory farms around the world. Because cultured meat is produced in laboratory environments, it does not suffer from some of the contamination and health issues that plague traditional meat producers, such as antibiotic resistance and foodborne and zoonotic illnesses.
Yuck. No wonder the lab-grown meat industry states one of their main problems is "cultural acceptance." I think it's just common sense.

There is one magazine that represents the interests, exclusively, of the globalist power elites.
It’s called The Economist, and each year it publishes an issue that consists of its forecast for the year ahead. In this case, 2026.
This year’s cover is creepy, to say the least.
Christian writer Michael Snyder notes that, “As we have seen so many times before, these issues tend to be alarmingly accurate. The reason why they are so accurate is because the ultra-wealthy elite have an enormous amount of influence over the course of human events.
"If they are absolutely determined to make something happen, there is a good chance that it is going to happen. Ominously, it appears that they are anticipating a great deal of global chaos in 2026.”
The Economist was founded in 1843. It has never had a very large readership among the general population. It writes for the billionaire elites and their cartel of political henchmen.
It has editorial offices all over the world, but it is based in the city of London, England.
Many of the wealthiest families in Europe are among its shareholders, and Sir Evelyn Robert de Rothschild served as chairman from 1972 to 1989.
That’s why, if you want to know what the global elite are thinking, this is the publication that you look for.
With that in mind, look at the picture above of the cover of The Economist’s year-end forecasting edition for 2026.
Snyder writes:
“To me, the fact that there are so many symbols relating to war really got my attention. There is a huge red tank on one side of the cover, and another huge red tank on the other side of the cover."
"At the top there are several large missiles that look like they are ready to be launched, and at the bottom there are more large missiles. Also, right in the middle we see two enormous swords that are crossed. That is clearly meant to symbolize war.”
We’ve already seen too much war in 2025. Bombs and missiles have been flying in Ukraine, Russia, Iran, Israel, India and Pakistan, and now potentially the U.S. and Venezuela, among other places.
But now, at least in the opinion of the globalist elites, we are in store for even more war in 2026.
President Trump, as the self-described “Peace President,” has rebranded the Department of Defense into the Department of War. He has suggested publicly that U.S. military strikes could be coming soon, not just in Venezuela, but in Mexico and Colombia as well. He’s previously talked about using the military to take Greenland.
It’s not too much of a stretch to say our president seems obsessed with the military.
As I (Tyler Durden) often say, pray for peace but prepare for war.
Getting back to the magazine cover, Snyder points out there is a chart that seems to depict some sort of a financial crash right under the crossed swords.
Just below that chart, there is a red image of a broken dollar sign.
Throughout the bottom half of the graphic it looks like paper currency is falling everywhere.
Is this a mere globalist wish list that may or may not happen? War and economic collapse, a collapse of the U.S. dollar so they can replace it with a digital/programmable currency? Or, is this what they know is going to happen and they are just informing us ahead of time, like they so often love to do?
I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

One in every 10 U.S adults who received the COVID-19 vaccine experienced “major” side effects, and over a third (36%) suffered “minor” side effects, according to a national survey conducted this month.
Based on a U.S. adult population of 258 million in 2020, the results mean that about 17 million adults who got the COVID-19 vaccine experienced major health effects, and roughly 63 million had minor side effects, said Rasmussen Reports, which conducted the survey.
The survey, which included 1,292 adults and had a margin sampling error of +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% confidence level, also revealed that 46% of both vaccinated and unvaccinated adults think it’s likely that COVID-19 vaccines have caused a significant number of unexplained deaths.
The numbers come as no surprise to Christopher Dreisbach, legal affairs director of React19, whose mission is to support the COVID-19 vaccine-injured. He told The Defender:
“Any surprise regarding the frequency and severity of these adverse reactions is simply the result of years of government and platform-level censorship that kept the injured’s experiences out of public view.”
Dreisbach was diagnosed with a debilitating and painful neurological disorder after getting Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.
Kristi Dobbs, who was also seriously injured when she took her first and only Pfizer COVID-19 shot on Jan. 18, 2021, said the U.S. government has yet to ensure that this kind of massive vaccine injury won’t happen again in the future.
Are vaccines a possible cause of the death of babies in the crib, otherwise known as SIDS – Sudden Infant Death Syndrome?
I recently reported on The HighWire that Florida state senator Iliana Garcia introduced a bill that says: “In the case of an infant or child who dies suddenly and unexpectedly, including cases of SIDs, the autopsy must include microscopic and toxicology studies and a review of the child's immunization of medical records.”
This may seem like a small thing—and you may be asking yourself, “What’s the big deal?”
Well, there are those who don’t want parents to discover why their child may have died soon after arriving home from the hospital. Here’s why: vaccines may be implicated, hence the need for Garcia’s bill.
If passed into law, the bill will mandate that the infant’s vaccine record be released to the medical examiner. And if the medical examiner fails to report the child’s vaccine record once, they will be subject to a $1,000 fine.
If the examiner fails to report the vaccine record in the event of a second infant death, the fine grows to $5,000. Repeated noncompliance will result in disciplinary action, which may include suspension and removal from the job.
The real issue is this: the fact that you need a law to say that if an infant dies, you have to review their current vaccine record raises a myriad of safety questions regarding the childhood vaccine schedule.

In California, teachers were instructed to hide a child’s claimed “gender identity” from parents. Activist groups supplied the materials. State officials then deleted the public evidence, locked the rest behind passwords and lied to a federal judge about what they were doing.
This is not education.
This is not care.
This is the state lying to parents about their own children.
The damage is real. Children pushed into “gender” ideology are placed on tracks that lead to puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries that sterilize and permanently disfigure healthy bodies.
A child cannot consent to irreversible harm. And no public employee has the right to initiate or conceal it.
California’s actions do more than violate the Fourteenth Amendment. They rewrite a centuries-old legal principle called in loco parentis, meaning “in place of the parent.”
Traditionally, teachers acted as temporary stand-ins who were accountable to parents, not replacements for them. Every version of in loco parentis has required partnership with families.
What states are doing now is the opposite. They are usurping parental authority.
And it is not just California. More than 1,000 school districts across America now enforce “Parental Exclusion Policies.”
States like Michigan and Washington have adopted the same model: keep parents uninformed, push children into identity confusion, and remove the family from the equation.
This is coordinated. It's expanding. And it will become permanent if we do not stop it now.
The same institutions that silenced doctors and controlled the public during COVID are now silencing parents and targeting children.
The pattern is identical:
1. Suppress truth.
2. Centralize power.
3. Eliminate the family’s authority.
Because:
• Parents have the constitutional right to direct their child’s upbringing
• Children must be protected from permanent medical mutilation
• The state cannot erase biological sex or parental authority
But the other side is well-funded, well-organized, and advancing fast. States are now willing to lie to judges to keep parents out. We must draw the line.
Every week, more parents discover too late what was concealed from them. This must end.
Children need protection. Parents need truth. And in loco parentis must return to what it always meant: standing in for parents, never against them.
