Creation, Noah and Jonah

How much do you trust the Biblical accounts of God's Miracles?

The three most widely recognized miracles in the Bible are:

  1. God Creating the earth and heavens in six literal 24 hour days.
  2. Noah and family sole survivors of a worldwide flood in an ark.
  3. Jonah surviving three days and nights in the belly of a great fish.

A surprisingly large number of "Bible believing" Christians don't believe that one or more of these three Biblical accounts are literally true. Yet Jesus himself mentioned all three of these miracles!

Matt. 12:40"... Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a sea monster..."

Matt. 24:38-39 "... Noah entered the ark...the flood came and took them all away"

Mark 13:19 "... has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created..."

Much of the problem of Christians disbelieving the Word of God can be traced to the three-generational-push of the theory of evolution in our public schools. Except they don't call it a theory, rather, they unabashedly, and incorrectly, refer to evolution as scientific fact.

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

The Bible says God "created" the heavens and the earth-by speaking them into existence. But because our public schools have been teaching "god-less evolution" as "fact" to millions of our children on a daily basis, Satan has effectively undermined the credibility of God's amazing creative work, which in turn, casts doubt on the rest of the Bible's accuracy and authenticity.

The Gap Theory

One of the results of public schools hammering away at evolution as fact is that today, there are millions of Christians, laymen and pastors alike, who believe the "gap theory." This theory teaches that evolution happened between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. A lot of university educated Christians latched onto this theory because they thought they could believe both in the Bible and "science." Few understood the ramifications of embracing this god-less compromised belief. But if you believe the Gap Theory, it means you believe that death came before sin. Yet the Bible clearly teaches sin proceeded death (Rom 5:12). The Gap Theory, therefore, is highly unbiblical.

Why it matters that Genesis 1 is accurate

Genesis 1 is the foundation to the whole Bible. Therefore the credibility of the entire Bible is dependent on the accuracy of Genesis 1. If Genesis 1 is not literal and accurate, then everything else in the Bible could be wrong also. The creation account, mirroring Genesis 1, is mentioned all throughout the Bible, here are some examples:

Deut 4:32, Psalms 148:5, Mal. 2:10, Mark 13:19, Col. 1:16, 1 Tim. 2:13, Eph. 3:9, 1 Pet. 4:19, Rev. 10:6, 1 Cor. 11:9, Rom. 1:20, Matt 19:4, Heb. 9:11, 2 Pet. 3:4, Eccl. 12:1, Is. 27:11. Job 31:15, Jer. 33:2, Amos 5:8, Jonah 1:9, Luke 11:40, Acts 14:15.

Therefore, If Genesis 1 is not factually correct, word for word, then you have mistakes throughout the Bible and none of it should be trusted.

At Compass, we defend the accuracy of the Bible. Every word, in the original languages. We believe God gave us 100% accurate and defend-able information. So what do we have to defend a literal 6 day creation?

Ask any scientist, physicist, molecular biologist, etc., if DNA is  a design, and you will get a "yes" answer. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is intricately designed and no educated person will deny it. DNA is in every living thing. It is our unique design code, the blueprint of the building blocks of our bodies And it is a self-correcting code. Now, if DNA is a design, there must be a "designer!" And if it corrects itself, it can't "evolve."

Kent Hovind, a past speaker at Steeling the Mind Bible Conferences, was once debating evolution and his opponent stated that there are hundreds, maybe thousands,  of kinds of dogs on the earth. And he asked Kent if he really believed that all those different kinds of dogs came from only two dogs on Noah's ark. Kent answered, "yes I do believe they came from only two dogs. But let me point out that you think they came from a rock!" The audience roared!

The above illustration shows how absurdity of believing that two pieces of dirt can "evolve" into a complexly designed human full of emotion. Yet that is what is being taught in our schools.
