Verse of the Day — Revelation 22:12

Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.

Will you qualify for a reward on Judgment Day?

Bible scholars have debated for years about the rewards and judgment that will transpire at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10; 1 Corinthians 3:12-15). Since we know that our sins have been cast “as far as the east is from the west” (Psalm 103:12) and that we can do nothing on our own, apart from Christ working in us (John 15:5), it is natural to question the nature of this divine, and very real, judgment.

We believe there is one thing that God asks of Believers that could possibly be the basis for this judgment. It is the one thing He has always asked. It is where many of the Israelites failed and where many Christians still struggle.

It is simply a question of “faith.”

Everything we do, think, say or feel reflects whether or not we truly believe God and what He says in His Word.

We tend to think most verses about believing have to do with salvation. But there is a huge emphasis all through the Bible about God wanting people to simply believe Him—to take Him at His Word in all things (have “faith”).

. . . whatever is not from faith is sin. —Romans 14:23b

But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness . . . —Romans 4:5

Behold, as for the proud one, his soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith. —Habakkuk 2:4

And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God.” —Mark 11:22

for we walk by faith, not by sight —2 Corinthians 5:7

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. —Galatians 2:20

and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith —Philippians 3:9

But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official, “Do not be afraid any longer, only believe. (have faith)” —Mark 5:36

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, —John 1:12

The Bible also says that faith is “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

So it seem plausible that God could judge everything we do in light of whether we did it out of faith—trust, assurance, conviction, belief—in Him.  That would explain why we could actually do the right thing for the wrong reason or do the wrong thing for the right reason:

Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s hearts; and then each man’s praise will come to him from God. —1 Corinthians 4:5

And the Bible mentions five rewards Believers can receive by faith:

  • Martyred for your faith (James 1:12)
  • Maturity in your faith (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)
  • Having faith God will use your testimony (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20)
  • Having faith Jesus will return to the earth (2 Timothy 4:5-8)
  • Having faith that shepherding others is feeding His sheep (1 Peter 5:2-4)
(Sorry the “mini” study was so long; we got a little carried away!)

Dear Compass,

I am concerned about the future and what is in store for Christians in the U.S. I believe that things are being set in motion for the anti-christ to take over the world. I have heard we may have food shortages in the future. Should we sell everything and prepare to feed our families by gardening and hunting, or should we keep living the way that we are and wait for the Rapture?

Some Bible teachers believe that we will suffer through part of the tribulation. I know that we are not supposed to be fearful and that the LORD will take care and meet all of our needs. But I also know from past history what happened to the Jewish people. I have heard that prison camps are being set up here in the USA for people who will not adhere to the NEW World Order and refuse to take the mark. What should we, as Believers, do?

This is an exciting time to live and be used by God! But we are not to give up as if God isn’t in control just because we can’t understand. We are to live by faith! (See above) 🙂

The model Jesus gave us for the future order of prophesied events is based on the days of Noah. Jesus said that, in essence, Rapture will be before the 70th week of Daniel, or often referred to as the coming seven-year tribulation period. You can read our article regarding details of Jesus’ remarks regarding the timing of the Rapture on our web site: What Jesus Said About the Timing of the Rapture. Click on the title to read it.

Therefore, Believers in the Church Age will not suffer through any part of the Tribulation or have to worry about the Mark of the Beast. And Jesus was clear that there would be an economy, even mentioning that weddings/social engagements would still be taking place right up to the door closure (Rapture). We are to keep our eyes on Christ, not the anti-christ!

For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark —Matthew 24:37-38

And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. —Luke 17:26-27

We may be previewing today some of the post-Rapture changes that will take place. It will be a different world, a new dispensation, after the Rapture. Keep in mind that every country apparently has a demon assigned to it for Satan’s evil purposes. With the Holy Spirit gone, the “Restrainer,” these demons will be unleashed. Here are two references to a nation’s demon:

Then he said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia. Now I have come to give you an understanding of what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision pertains to the days yet future.” —Daniel 10:12-14

. . . But I shall now return to fight against the prince of Persia; so I am going forth, and behold, the prince of Greece is about to come. —Daniel 10:20

America has apparently been in Satan’s cross-hairs since its God-ordained inception. The fast-moving changes we are witnessing in our country (and around the world) are being allowed by God for His purposes. But always remember, we are not up against people.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. —Ephesians 6:12-13

Notice that we are to stand firm, not run and hide. We are to reflect God’s Holy Spirit in whatever we do, wherever we go, ready to defend what we believe and be a witness to God’s truth.

Could it get messy for Christians between now and the Rapture? Only God knows. We had a presentation at one of our Steeling the Mind Bible Conferences titled The Coming Persecution of Christians in America. It is a sobering look at what could happen to Believers in the future if the Lord doesn’t come soon.

But as Believers, we should always take comfort in remembering that we belong to God and He takes it upon Himself to care for us.

casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you. —1 Peter 5:7

This verse literally means that He is the one Who takes care of us. He also said He would never leave nor forsake us.

Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU” —Hebrews 13:5

So whatever we may have to deal with, we can know that He will be our strength and protection.

We know that everything happening is in God’s timing, allowed by God for His ultimate will. We are to live with our eyes on our eternal future, not this temporary life on earth, knowing we have the righteous and all-powerful God of the universe living inside of us.

You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you [God’s Holy Spirit] than he who is in the world [Satan]. —1 John 4:4

This power in us is so great that the Bible says God can do incredible things through us.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. —Philippians 4:13

When we are given choices, like voting, we should exercise them in a Christ-like manner by supporting those who best reflect biblical values. If we ever lose our God-given liberties, we are still to desire to be used by God, regardless of the circumstances. Our continual prayer until death or Rapture should be “Use us, Lord!!”
