Although you strike him with the rod, he will not die.
You shall strike him with the rod
And rescue his soul from Sheol.
God says to spank your children—with diligence!
|The Bible is very clear—parents MUST spank their children. They are born sinful (Romans 3:23) and must be taught truth and boundaries (Proverbs 22:15). And you need to discipline them while they are young and can benefit from correction (Proverbs 19:18).|| for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God —Romans 3:23|
Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; Discipline your son while there is hope,
Discipline your son while there is hope,
He who withholds his rod hates his son,
But he who loves him disciplines him diligently. —Proverbs 13:24
Disciplining your children was considered such common sense God “assumed” you would do it.
Thus you are to know in your heart that the LORD your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son. —Deuteronomy 8:5
So don’t let the world distort the Biblical principles of discipline!
The Bible says, “it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Yet, in the Old Testament, two people didn’t die (Elijah and Enoch). Does that mean they still have to die (perhaps as the two witnesses)? Also, what about the people at Rapture, they don’t die?
Elijah will die in the middle of the Tribulation as one of the two witnesses.
Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD. —Malachi 4:5
And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth. —Revelation 11:3
When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them. —Revelation 11:7
But you are right, Enoch was the first to be Raptured.
Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. —Genesis 5:24
There will be another large group of people who will not die a physical death but will be removed at the future Rapture of the Church.
Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. —1 Corinthians 15:51-52
However, Rapture could be considered a “technical” death as the old, sinful body is discarded. And Rapture is made possible because Jesus died in our place.
But more importantly, God makes the rules. He, at His discretion or will, may elect to do things differently, like perform miracles to accomplish His purposes. Iron can’t float on water, but God made iron float once on water.
Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And when he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there, and made the iron float. —2 Kings 6:6
No one can walk on water, or feed 20,000 people with five loaves and two fish, but God allowed those things to accomplish His will and purpose.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. —Isaiah 55:8
If for no other reason, the Bible’s teaching that everyone must die (exceptions noted) refutes the world’s false teaching of reincarnation.
