Verse of the Day — Jeremiah 1:5

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you . . .

God knew us before He formed us.

God made you, you didn’t evolve.

Thus says the LORD who made you
And formed you from the womb, who will help you . . .
—Isaiah 44:2

He created you exactly like He wanted you.

. . . I am fearfully and wonderfully made. —Psalm 139:14

My frame was . . . skillfully wrought . . . —Psalm 139:15

And before you were formed in your mother’s womb, you were in Adam.

For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. —1 Corinthians 15:22

That’s why when Adam sinned, you were there in his sin.

Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. —Romans 5:14

It’s a little easier to understand this today with the discovery of DNA. In fact, you can trace everyone’s DNA back to one person—Adam. This simple fact drives the evolutionists crazy.

Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. —2 Timothy 3:7

Dear Compass,

A friend’s son is getting married and because the girl he is marrying is not a Christian, his aunt is boycotting the wedding. She has told both of them her reasons for not attending. She told the bride-to-be that she was a sinner who needs to be saved, and saved before she gets married. I think this is tough and may even turn the girl away from Christianity, instead of toward it. She does go to church with her fiance. I don’t know how strong a Christian the boy is, but this has the potential to upset and divide the whole family. I realize this aunt is standing up for her convictions, but don’t you think this is a little extreme?

Whoever is responsible for teaching this boy spiritual truth (his father if his father is a Christian) did a poor job armoring his kids with Biblical truth. For a Christian to marry a non-Christian is absolutely wrong, in any and every situation:

Do not be bound together with unbelievers . . . —2 Corinthians 6:14

Many evangelical pastors, correctly, will not marry a Christian and a non-Christian. In addition to the verse above, there are countless problems ahead for any couple, and their children, who have a mixed marriage. It’s simply because one serves God, the other Satan—a recipe for disaster.

You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. —John 8:44

We like the aunt. In her own way, she is more concerned with what God says about marriage and the future well-being of the bride and groom than her own reputation. She even witnessed to the bride-to-be. Hopefully she did all of her testifying in a spirit of love and concern. To this aunt, the girl and the boy are about to walk off the edge of a cliff they can’t see. What she did was what the parents (if they are Christians) should have been doing. If more Christians stood up for God’s best, like this aunt, Christians would have better testimonies!

Recent comment from a GML subscriber:

“Today’s GML study was something else for me personally; it really struck deeply with relief. Although I’ve heard similar statements about dead people not having problems, I don’t think I have ever before had anything like this presented so directly, and that could partially be due to my needing it so much in this moment. The time taken to put this GML together is an incredible gift that had me laugh immediately upon reading the beginning of it, then just relax as it all sank in with the calm assurance that living in Christ offers me the great comfort that He is at work in all circumstances and that for this moment I simply need to rest in Him.”
