Verse of the Day — Psalm 103:12

As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

God separates the sins from the sinner.

MINI BIBLE STUDY FOR THE DAY

East and west never meet, and neither will you and your sins. Christ so completely dealt with sin at the Cross that when God looks at Christians, He sees only a person clean and righteous in Christ. This began the moment you trusted Christ as your Savior.

. . . you were washed . . . sanctified . . . justified. —1 Corinthians 6:11

What an incredible Lord we have!

QUESTION FOR THE DAY

Regarding all the e-mail we received about election, predestination and free will:

ANSWER:

We do not pretend to even begin to understand how both free will and predestination are true.

The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law. —Deuteronomy 29:29

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! —Romans 11:33

But they are BOTH taught in Scripture. Therefore they are both true. God is just operating a level above us, and that’s the proof. You will not understand everything in this life, we must have faith.

To predestine is to pre-plan a destiny. The Greek word “proorizo” means to “mark off beforehand.” Ryrie/Eerdmans defines it as “that eternal act of God whereby He, in His sovereign good pleasure, and on account of no foreseen merit in them, chooses a certain number of men to be the recipients of special grace and of eternal salvation.”

Therefore, God “knowing what we will choose or do before we do it” is NOT predestination (though most Christians consciously or unconsciously hold this concept of election). The Bible teaches He chose us PRIOR to our making any decisions.

just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. .&nbsp. . —Ephesians 1:4

In fact, not only did He choose us, He also “caused us to be born again.”

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead —1 Peter 1:3

And we did not say that there are some who can’t go to heaven. The Bible clearly says “whosoever” calls on the name of God will be saved.

AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED. —Acts 2:21

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. —John 3:16

Christians are predestined, but the Bible does not suggest anywhere the opposite—that God elected some to damnation (Judas excepted, “The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.” —Matthew 26:24). Always remember that it is God who elects, and He can do NOTHING unloving or unjust.

The Lord is . . . not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. —2 Peter 3:9

Regarding “if predestination is true, why witness?” Realize that election alone does not result in salvation. Yes, it assures those chosen will be saved, but people are saved only through faith in the substitutionary death of Christ. Before someone can have a personal faith, they must hear the testimony of Jesus’ life, death, burial and resurrection.

How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? How shall they hear without a preacher? —Romans 10:14
