Verse of the Day — Psalm 115:8

Those who make them [idols] will become like them,
Everyone who trusts in them.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

We become like what we worship.

MINI BIBLE STUDY FOR THE DAY

God says of man-made idols:

They have mouths, but they cannot speak;
They have eyes, but they cannot see;
They have ears, but they cannot hear .&nbsp. .

                —Psalm 115:5-6a

Just as idols are dead things, so anything that controls us, other than Jesus Christ, will rob us of true life. Therefore, God warns us to choose carefully what we will worship because our spiritual life depends on it.

But if your heart turns away and you . . . are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall surely perish.
               —Deuteronomy 30:17-18

The good news is that when we choose to worship Jesus Christ, we become like Him.

But we all with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory . .&nbsp.
               —2 Corinthians 3:18

Make sure there is only one God in your life.

QUESTION FOR THE DAY
Dear Compass,

[The responder’s comments are followed paragraph by paragraph with responses from Compass.]

I disagree about “Heaven Is for Real.” I, too, was alarmed at the wings; however, it occurred to me that these folks currently in Heaven are not yet in their glorified bodies, as they’ve not yet been resurrected, so therefore – how do we know that they don’t now have wings?

When Moses and others appeared post death, they didn’t have wings.

And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. —Matthew 17:3

When Jesus came back from the grave (Luke 24:13-31), He didn’t have wings and He said we would have a body just like His when we die and go to heaven. (Philippians 3:20-21)

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.

Also, Jesus could very well have had the nails through his hands & been tied at the elbows/wrists in order to support his body weight, as was the fashion some of the time. We just don’t know…

Archeologists have discovered scores of first century bodies in the Roman Empire who had died by crucifixion, and the nails always were in the wrists.

4 year olds do not lie and there is no way Colton could have known what he knew upon his return. The book thrilled me and I don’t need “proof” or an “experience”. I’ve known Jesus since age 8 & I’m now 68. Please do not disparage/discount this wonderful Christian servant’s book! I’m sure it was burning a hole in his spirit and he HAD to put these things down on paper. God is using it. I’m sure of that!

God can use anything, but to be sure it is from God. He gave us a test. EVERYTHING must line up with Scripture or the person is a false prophet, no matter how cute they are.

When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. —Deuteronomy 18:22

In the Old Testament, they killed the false prophets. In the Church Age, there is grace.
