Verse of the Day — Romans 11:25

. . . a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Very few Jews turn to Jesus, for now . . .

MINI BIBLE STUDY FOR THE DAY

God’s plan for the Jews during the Church Age is that very few will trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This “hardening” is both partial and temporary. There are some whom God allows His Holy Spirit to indwell, but they are few and far between. This hardening (Greek = “dullness”) will end when Jesus returns to the earth and they realize that He was their Messiah, sent from God but crucified by them.

. . . they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him . . . —Zechariah 12:10

It is always amazing to listen to Israeli guides while visiting Israel. By Israeli law, every group or bus must have a government-licensed guide. Guiding is one of the premier jobs in the whole country. But to qualify, you have to have a special license that is equivalent to a two-year college degree in the U.S. On Compass trips, these guides constantly quote both OT and NT Scripture as fact and know their Bible as well as any good Bible teacher in the U.S. They point out where Jesus did miracles, walked, lived, and died. Yet, when asked who they think Jesus was, they say only that He was a good man, or a prophet.

. . . Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. —John 3:3

QUESTION FOR THE DAY

Dear Compass,

Not too long ago, I read an article saying that the theory of evolution had been disproven. I am a firm believer in Creationism myself but know a lot of people who believe in evolution (non-Christians). What are some questions and recent scientific discoveries and facts I can state to disprove these beliefs? Other than quotes from the Bible, which they refuse to listen to.

ANSWER:

There are many, many scientific facts that disprove the theory of evolution. We have many excellent presentations recorded live-to-tape at our Steeling the Mind Bible Conferences, including the Power Point slides. They use the laws of science to show that the “theory of evolution” runs in the face of scientific fact.

We have more than ninety excellent presentations available, including “100 Scientific Reasons Evolution is Stupid,” “The Age of the Earth,” “Our Amazing Universe” and “Big Bang and the Bible.” They are available on our website www.compass.org/apologetics. (Apologetics is “defense of the faith.”)

For content example, our presentation The Age of the Earth explains that scientists know for a fact that the earth is slowing down. Its rate of decrease in speed (caused by mountain friction to the atmosphere, etc.) is measurable. However, it’s not slowing down enough to matter if the earth is around 6,000 years old, as the Bible contends. But if the earth is millions of years old, as contended by evolutionists, then the earth would have had to be spinning so fast (to not have stopped by now) that everything, including humans, would have spun off into space!

We have another presentation on DNA that shows it’s an extremely intricate self-correcting design. If you have a “design,” then you must have a “designer!” So enjoy clicking around on our web site through those awesome apologetic titles that prove the Bible’s accuracy.

It is important to be ready to give an answer to what you believe (1 Peter 3:15), but always keep in mind that the root problem with your evolutionist friends is not solved by finding scientific evidence outside of Biblical references. Their real problem is spiritual. Until they trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior, it won’t matter what they believe. And they can’t understand spiritual truths until they are revealed by the Holy Spirit.

For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God —1 Corinthians 2:10-12
